Jupiter is shrinking!

If we wait enough time, we might not have size envy against the largest planet of our solar system. Jupiter is about 2 and a half times larger than all other planets in the solar system. However, the gas giant is losing volume at a steady rate.

Jupiter is the closest planet in our solar system to a star. If it were 75 times as massive, it would be able to fuse hydrogen and become a star. As it stands, however, Jupiter still radiates a large amount of heat. That is actually the reason it's shrinking. It is radiating out more heat than it gets from the Sun. This imbalance results in the planet shrinking about 2cm each year. Scientists estimate that the planet was originally much hotter and bout twice its size right now.

There's a movie theater in London that has "Ninjas" that hush loud moviegoers!

Have you ever gone to a theater and there's a really loud person and no one dares to speak up? This theater has got your back. The Prince Charles Cinema in London recruits volunteers to act as ninjas who keep order in the theater, in exchange for free movie tickets.

When they spot a moviegoer talking, texting or doing something rude, they come in and they hush him. It seems to be working, a person on the receiving end of a ninja hush said he was shocked at first, but he had a laugh over it and realized he should stop talking.

Needing to pee improves impulse control!

So, you’re sitting with your family making a big decision and realize you have to go to the bathroom. The logical thing to do would be to excuse yourself and have a meeting with the porcelain god, and then return to make the decision.

Research suggests that holding your pee can actually help control impulses and allow you to make better and clear headed decisions. It is interesting, because you’d think the opposite would be true. Just like we know not to buy groceries hungry, because we’ll get a lot of junk we don’t need.

Researchers had subjects drink a ton of water and then complete several decision making tests. They found that the bigger the urge to use the restroom, the better the subject was able to concentrate and control their impulses. The next time you are trying to make a big decision, try doing it while having to pee.

Toy Story 2 got deleted twice while being made!

Toy Story 2 is one of the legendary Pixar movies that helped solidify the newly burgeoning company’s reputation, yet most people don’t know the struggle behind the success. One day, while nearly finished with the project, the Chief Technical Officer of Pixar Oren Jacob was reviewing data when they noticed that their files suddenly started shrinking.

At first they were unsure what was happening, yet quickly noticed there was a problem as more and more of the data was deleting itself. The process only stopped as the machine itself was unplugged, yet nearly 90% of the movie had been erased. Jacob says that at first they were at a loss of what to do because the back up files had not been saved correctly, yet eventually were able to reconstruct most of the previous material. Unfortunately, it too would be deleted.

Only a handful of months before its scheduled release, producers came to take a final look at the film and decided that it if the Pixar name was to survive, the movie had to be much better. The team went to work immediately and was forced to rewrite and compose an entirely new Toy Story film, the one we have today.

So how did the data get erased? They’re still not sure. All they know is that the code to delete files was somehow entered, suggesting someone involved in its creation purposefully deleted it!
